Dasvidaniya is a Russian word which means goodbye. Truly, the movie will definitely teach us the right way to say good bye to your near and dear once, to your life and to the world around you. And for the Russian connection, we’ll reveal it later.

Dasvidaniya is a touching tale of a dying man, who wants to live his life to the fullest in rest of his few days on earth. Amar Kaul, a 37-year-old man worked under a greedy boss, played by Sourabh Shukla and lived with his daily-soap lover mother with hearing-aids, played by Sarita Joshi. He had his ‘to do’ list for everyday and as a timid person he went on doing all these without a single complaint. One day Amar found that he was suffering from stomach cancer and he had only three months left on the earth. From his mundane life, he wanted to live his life, he wanted to breathe life to the fullest. He changed his ‘to do’ list. He wanted to fulfill all his dreams within those three months. He took on his boss, expressed his unspoken love to his childhood sweetheart, played by Neha Dhupia, bought a red car, learnt how to play guitar, travelled abroad, met with his best friend after 12 long years, and slept with a Russian girl. Actually, Amar wanted to bid goodbye to the world and to his life like a winner, without any regret, without any unfulfilled desire, and without any complaint.

Amar is an ironical name for a man, who is about to die in few months. His expressions are out of the world when he learns that he’ll survive only for three months, and equally brilliant when best friend's wife Suchitra Pillai thinks he has come to Russia only to use his friend, or in the scene where he expresses his love to Neha. Vinay Pathak excels in the character of a dying man. Every character, be it his snobbish boss Saurabh Shukla, mother Sarita Joshi, brother Gaurav Gera, his guitar teacher Joy Fernandes, his best friend Rajat Kapoor, the car sales woman Purbi Joshi, or his love Neha Dhupia is rightly portrayed.
