SHOCKING REVALATIONS ABOUT A FORMER CJI











Former Chief Justice of india JS Verma felt shocked and surprised at the disclosures made by senior advocate Prashant Bhushan in a CNBC TV Programme about a retired Chief Justice of India. If the charges levelled by the Committee on Judicial Accountability in a press-release are true, Union Law & Justice Ministry should take instant steps for a probe. It is high time that a high-powered National Judicial Council with retired Supreme Court judges as member-nominees of the President, Prime Minister, Opposition Leader, Chief Justice of India and Bar Council of India with Central Vigilance Commissioner as ex-officio member of the Council may be constituted to have a judicially-refined say of legislature in appointments and probe for judges of higher courts. Even Chief Justice of India should be accountable to the Commission as rightly suggested by Parliamentary Committee to examine Judges Enquiry Bill.
