Kamal Haasan urges his fans not to celebrate his birthday

Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan did not celebrate his B’day on last Friday nor he wanted his fans to celebrate the day. No, it’s not for hiding his age, but the decision was fraught with a greater noble cause. He did this in protest of the killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka. The genocide in Sri Lanka has moved the star so immensely. The star of south said sitting in his own town, Chennai, “I beseech my fans to refrain from celebrations. An individual's birthday loses credence or importance when genocide is practiced in our neighbouring island with renewed vigour. Language, colour, creed and caste can no more be used as excuses for intolerance.”

He asked his fans to use their youth, energy and enthusiasm to stop the massacre around. That will be the greatest birth day gift for him. The sensitive actor pleads to his fans, “many are dying for a reason so unbelievably simple. They speak the same language Tamil, as I do. If my birthday can be used as a tiny fulcrum to leverage public opinion against this genocide, apart from the honour of gaining your love, I would have one more reason to be proud of my birth”.
