BCCI, the most vulnerable organization |
|
The cricket admirers of India nowadays are quite disappointed and to some extent furious over the role of the BCCI in the recent years. The same situation is also with me. In several aspects including the recent episode of racial abuse involving Harbhajan Singh the role and approach of BCCI has been totally unacceptable to many Indian cricket fans. How can the reaction of the highest controlling authority of the Indian cricket be so feeble? What is more the recent controversy was against Australia whose rowdy and uncivilized behavior in the fields are widely accepted. But the reaction of the BCCI seemed that it was Harbhajan who was the real culprit! But if we render a close attention then it will be found that there is no such reason for BCCI to display this sheepish attitude. The popularity of the game of cricket is the highest in this Indian subcontinent. There is the presence of few countries in the subcontinent that are involved in cricket and the Indian team is considered as a balanced and powerful one to compete with any strong team of the world. Indian cricket team has always been very strong and it has got its name registered in cricket history for winning innumerable records. On the other hand the BCCI is the highest authority of cricket in India and also happens to be the richest board in the world of cricket. For this reason both the game and the board become able to allure hordes of politician and industrialist to join the board that often results into heated tussle between the members. I think you have not forgotten that Jagmohan Dalmiya, the one time and most successful President of BCCI had to resign for bungling of fund of the cricket board. Therefore, its contribution to the cause of cricket and also in the ICC is the highest. But in spite of everything when the question is to uphold the cause of the Indian cricket before the international arena the BCCI seems to be most vulnerable. We do have everything but still are not able to protect the honor of our country before the international public and media. What a shame! Posted by on Friday Nov 21 reply Comments |
