What would be actress Lara Dutta’s name if she marries cricketer Brian Lara? It would be Lara Lara. No, both the actress and the legendary cricketer have nothing to do with style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Golmaal Returns. It’s only a joke to make you understand what kind of humour this big budget film is offering us in this festive season.

Golmaal Returns is a sequel of last year super hit Golmaal, but the series two has no parity with the older one, be it with characterization or with the theme, though the names of the characters are the same. It is also to maintain a relation between both the flicks.

It has hardly a story to tell. Gopal, played by Ajay Devgan is disturbed with a over-nagging over suspicious wife Ekta played by Kareena Kapoor. The story begins where, one day Gopal fails to reach home in night saving a girl, played by Celina from a number of street goons. Ekta demands for an explanation of his action, of which he fabricates a story that he was with his friend Anthony Gonsalves that night. Climax turns into anticlimax when Ekta writes Anthony to meet with her. Gopal presents his junior Laxman played by Shreyas Talpade as Anthony in front of Ekta and also involves Ekta’s silent brother Lucky played by Tusshar Kapoor into their conspiracy. There appears Madhav, played Arshad Warsi, an inspector, inspecting for a murder case of that very night when Gopal was out of his home. Gopal tells a thousand of lies to hide the truth, and thereby allowing an ample scope for humour and amusements.

Director Rohit Shetty’s sole motto is to create a breath taking laughter by his Golmaal Returns. He is to some extent successful on that. But if you go on to search the sense beneath the jokes, Golmaal Returns is not for you.
