Nearly 13,000 children affected by Chinese tainted milk
New Delhi, Sep 22 ANI: The Chinese Health Ministry has said that the number of children sickened by tainted milk products has doubled, with nearly 12,900 in hospital and 104 of them seriously ill.The sick children consumed milk made from milk powder, most of it produced by the Shijiazhuang Sanlu Group, the ministry said in a statement posted on its website on Sunday. Fish had "fingers" before acquiring fins
Washington, September 22 ANI: The analysis of a newly discovered fossil skeleton has revealed that before it acquired fins, an ancient fish sported something like fingers that were the precursors to our own digits.According to a report in Live Science, the fossilized skeleton belonged to Panderichthys, a predatory fish that spanned up to 4 feet 130 cm and likely dwelled in shallow waters, where it inched along the muddy bottom about 385 million years ago. Biofuels made from wheat stubble could lead to a greener fut
Canberra, September 22 ANI: Researchers at the CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems in Canberra have determined that biofuels made from the stubble left over from harvesting wheat grains could replace around one fifth of the volume of petrol used in Australia.According to a report in ABC News, Dr Michael Dunlop of CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems said that based on 2001 figures, the 10 main grain crops of Australia produce about 65 million tonnes of stubble.He said that much of this needs to be left in the ground to protect soil, retain soil carbon and reduce evaporation  read more
