Indian aviation industry creates a landmark |

The arrival of the open market economy and subsequent reforms has led to the introduction of a new age in India, which has perceived astounding development in a lot of sectors. However, in spite of that, there have been allegations from several quarters of the society regarding the absence of a number of aspects that are essential to carry forward the nation. Well, if you are among them, you have nothing to worry any more and can certainly rejoice over this! It has come to the knowledge that in the coming days the Indian aviation industry, along with the remaining world, is no longer going to use paper tickets and it will be turned into a treasure in the archive. All significant airlines, of any country, would stop both the issuing and utilization of paper tickets. It is to be noted that by this they will adhere to International Air Transport Association's (IATA) June 1 deadline for starting 100 per cent e-ticketing. Now the question remains what is the main reason behind this sudden move. This effort to be applied by the topnotch airlines in the global spectrum, as has been found, would make the savings of an estimated three billion dollars per year a reality, barring the slash in costs of transaction and back-office paper work . Commenting on this both of Bird Group Executive Director Ankur Bhatia and Amadeus CEO Rakesh Bansal said, "An estimated five billion A4 sheets were needed to print paper tickets per annum. Twice that number were required for back-office paper work." The innovative process of e-ticketing will save the companies from this excessive expenditure. It should be taken into consideration that Amedus, apart from pioneering e-ticketing in India also trained bulk of CISF personnel. These personnel are appointed in various airports throughout the country and due to the training can identify e-tickets. Posted by subhasis on Saturday May 31 reply Comments |
