Terrorists used US-made walkie-talkies in Karachi naval base attack

Karachi, May 29ANI: Three US-made walkie-talkie sets were used by terrorists to carry out the attack on Karachi's Mehran Naval Station last Sunday, investigations have revealed. Four to six Taliban terrorists entered PNS Mehran on May 22, destroying two US-supplied Orion surveillance aircraft and killing ten military personnel during their 17-hour siege of the naval air base. The PNS Mehran attack investigation team claimed to have seized US-made LXT-303 walkie-talkie sets from the naval facility. These walkie-talkie sets are of the same type used by international forces in Afghanistan, Samaa TV reports. The range of the seized walkie-talkie is 1.5 kilometres, which is increasable as farther as 16 miles with the help of the base transmitter. The forensic analysis of these sets revealed the frequency of two more walkie-talkies, which establishes the fact that the terrorists attacked PNS Mehran in three groups. Dunya News quoted an investigation officer as saying that such sets are specifically made to be used in military operations. The use of US-made walkie-talkie sets is banned in Pakistan. ANI
