Big B, the real fighter |
|
He started his career with a bunch of flops. After years of struggle, Hrishikesh Mukherji gave him a break and after Anand and Guddi, everyone in the film fraternity confirmed the birth of a new superstar. Since then his acting career went smoother and smoother. It was only on 26th July 1982, the first blow on his health came while shooting for Coolie. The reigning superstar almost went to the threshold of death. Thousands of fans prayed for his recovery which resulted into a miracle and Big B survived from the severe threat. After his recovery he gave the hits like Sharabi and Giraftar. He tried his hand in politics after the death of Mrs. Indira Gandhi in 1984. In spite of defeating Hemvanti Nandan Bahuguna in elections, he was trapped in the dirty game of politics by the anti-Gandhi group. As he was growing older, he decided to retire from cinema in 1992 and would launch a film production house ABCL. But destiny had her own plans. He faced a major financial lose on ABCL and almost drowned in debt. Financially shattered Amitabh never surrendered to fate and fought back. For overcoming financial crisis, he came back in show biz in a television reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati. Amitabh’s presence made it a huge hit and that smoothened the way of his comeback. Big B quickly subdued the financial blow and was cast in Mohabattein by Yash Chopra banner. He has been awarded with the title of the Star of the Millenium by BBC poll. Even though, he consistently was working in this age, his physical strength seems to answer to his busy schedule. In 2005, Amitabh was admitted to Delhi’s Escort Hospital following a serious abdomen ache. He had gone through an intestinal surgery that time. Just when he resumed his works in Bollywood, and ended up a successful ‘Unforgettable’ tour through North America and Europe, on his 66th birthday in 2008, another blow came. On 11th Oct, 2008, he was admitted to Lilavati hospital and later to Nanawati hospital, complaining an abdominal pain. Crossing the criss-cross path of life, Amitabh Bachchan evolves as Big B. His journey is not that of a fairy tale, full of ease and miracles. Of course he is an extremely blessed person, to have millions of fans who subdued death for him. As a human being he also had to face pangs of life. But he is not a common man to cede to destiny. Every time destiny plays a prank with the super star, he resists it with equal bravery. We salute him for his fighting spirit. Big B always shows a charisma of his personality and acting that even today roles are written for him. Without him Bollywood film fraternity would be incomplete. With age he has been suffering from physical illness but it’s his spirit only which prompts him to maintain the stature of Big B till today. We only pray Big B will soon recover from the recent blow of illness and will be back in silver screen to entertain his countless fans around the world.
