MAKE RAKSHA BANDHAN AS HOLIDAY DTC buses and Metro Rail in Delhi have record earnings on Raksha Bandhan. Factories, wholesale-markets and private-offices observe holiday on this day because not only employees but even owners find it inconvenient to go to work as sisters are to tie rakhis to their brothers. Since government-offices, banks and other public-sector undertakings are not having holiday on Raksha Bandhan, these look deserted with very thin attendance. Public-dealing is negligible. Data can reveal that a large number of employees avail restricted leave on Raksha Bandhan. Considering all these practical aspects, Government should declare Raksha Bandhan as public-holiday. Since Raksha Bandhan is a public-holiday in neighbouring state of UP, clearing-cheques are returned by bank-branches in NOIDA and Ghaziabad operating in Delhi clearing. Data may be collected about such restricted holidays when most government and public-sector employees avail their restricted holidays. Such most-commonly availed holidays should be converted in public-holidays. Loss of working-days should be compensated by converting public-holidays on birth-days of big leaders including Gandhi Jayanti into extra-work days to pay true homage to ideals of great personalities to work hard!
