Army officials encourage youth towards cricket in Kashmir

Uri J-K, Apr 25 ANI: With an aim to encourage youth towards sports, officials of the Indian Army organised cricket tournament Uri Premier League UPL in Uri today. The initiative, taken by Indian forces, is to motivate youth of the border areas to exhibit their talent in sports. People appreciated the initiative taken by the Indian forces. "The children here got immense talent in sports but do not get opportunity to exhibit their talent due to lack of resources. If such tournaments are held in future too then youth of the area can show their sports talent," said Abdul Ahad. Youngsters of the area also said that such tournaments should be held in border areas time to time so that they can get opportunities to exhibit their sports talent. "We want such tournaments to take place every month because it normally connects people with defence personnel which helps in improving the condition in the state," said Zahoor Ahmad, a cricket player. Navneet Kumar, an army official said such tournaments are aimed to encourage youth of border areas so that they can represent themselves on district and state levels. "It is very important to channelise the energy of the youth of the state by involving them in some work, in studies or should be motivated for sports so that they can use their energy in a constructive way. It will develop enthusiasm and spirit of success into them," said Kumar. The initiative is expected to help in bringing out the sports talent in the youth of border areas. ANI
