Time to be conscious on diets during pregnancy |
|
In each and every civilization mothers have been given the highest regards since they happen to be the producers of offsrings. This is not a maxim but a basic reality. Now the question remains do we consider it necessary to look after the regular diets of the women in maternity? However grievous it is, the reality is we do not and the victims of this insensate negligence are the citizens of tomorrow. Reason? A poor diet has a great effect on a woman if she is pregnant or even is breastfeeding and this causes a long-lasting health damage to the child. This startling realization came to the fore in the recent days, thanks to an extensive study in the discipline of animal studies. The study that was completed under the auspices of the Royal Veterinary College and London's Wellcome Trust in the recent days was conducted on the rat families. According to the revelation of the aforesaid study, at the time of experimentation the offspring of rats fed fatty, processed food had high levels of fat in their bloodstream and around major organs even after adolescence. The result was that in the animals a higher level of diabetes was witnessed. Furthermore, the same team compounded that those rats whose mothers were fed junk food during pregnancy and breastfeeding used to have greater inclination to go for junk foods. The result was highly thought provoking, and also stated even if they could manage to get out from the sphere of these foods in the midway there was no bright chance to reprieve. Well, you may ask how is this related to the human beings! To this perhaps the statement of Professor Neil Stickland, one of the significant researchers, would be enough. To his consideration there was certainly no reason why the same principles should not apply to humans. The chief reason is the among the human beings and rats there is, indeed, the presence of a number of common and fundamental biological systems that prove the same things can be visible among the humans. However, there were notable dissensions. To a section of researchers, for instance Fiona Ford from the University of Sheffield, since there was no such strong evidence of the same effect in human beings it would be mostly unfortunate to hold any woman responsible for taking any form of unhealthy snacks during pregnancy. The same note was also found in Dr Atul Singham, from the Institute of Child Health in London, who stated unequivocally till the same was proved among humans it would not be wise to reach any such final conclusion. Whatever it is all these indicate that it is high time for every human family to oversee the regular diets, especially at the time of pregnancy, provided they desire healthy babies. The more one remains out of the purview of junk foods the better it is! Posted by subhasis on Wednesday Jul 02 reply Comments |
