Washington, September 25 ANI: The recent hacking of U.S. Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin's Yahoo e-
mail account has raised fresh concerns over how easy it is to break into any
web account. The hacker - said to be David Kernell, son of Democratic Tennessee
state Rep. Mike Kernell - exploited a flaw in Yahoo's webmail
service that requires
all its users to secure their accounts through easily obtainable
information like a pet's name, where you met your spouse, or what your high
school mascot was. While a webmail user may consider it to be
personal information, it actually is not because someone with even a casual knowledge of one's
personal life can answer such
questions in certain cases.
Personal blogs and
social networking
websites like Facebook and MySpace can reveal a lot of
information about their users, which a malicious person can misuse to change one's password and have full access to the account. The task was even easier in Palin's case, with
journalists revealing her background to inform the
public. According to the Washington Times, it took only 45 minutes for the hacker to reset Palin's password by finding out her
birthday, ZIP code, and where she had met her husband Todd. The hacker used the pseudonym "rubico" for the purpose, which the
Web site ZDNet linked to Mr. Kernell, according to a posting to a
Web bulletin board. For someone whose
personal life is not so
public, it would take longer. However, a hacker can still successfully carryout this task, says the
newspaper. ANI

Jordan turned up at her
perfume launch in a revealing thong and rather than emphasizing on her
perfume she chose to take a pot shot at rivals Victoria Beckham and Kerry Katona.
Jordan, who is just back from a
surgery after a boob
job, wore a tiny thong at the launch of her new
fragrance 'Besotted' and clawed Victoria and Katona with her bitter
comments."I didn't want the
perfume launch to be boring like Victoria Beckham's, Kelly Brook and the others, I saw Victoria in
pictures wearing the white
dress with a kind of furry thing on the back and I just
thought she's on another night out," The Mirror quoted
Jordan, as saying."I had no idea she was supposed to be promoting her new
perfume. She didn't make any effort. She should have a bit more
fun with it like I did," she added. After taking potshots at Beckham and posing for the
camera,
Jordan hit back at Katona over her threats to publish a
book about their
relationship. "How she can write anything about me is a
joke. We met at the jungle, did two
photo-shoots later, and possibly met a couple of times out of
work,"
Jordan said."But that was a long time ago and she doesn't know anything about my life."It's sad. I hear Kerry needs the
money. But she shouldn't show off and splash
money on things she can't afford," she added. ANI

army kills six during protest against civilian deathsPeshawar, Sep 23 DPA Six
people were killed in
Pakistan Tuesday when
security forces opened
fire on a demonstration against civilian deaths in the ongoing
military offensive in Swat valley in the country's northwest, witnesses said. The demonstration started Monday after a mortar round hit a
house in the Allah Abad area of Swat
district in North-West Frontier Province, killing one
woman and her two
children. Residents carried the victims' bodies about 20 km to Mangora
city, where the
army headquarters is located.
More than 8,000
people joined them in the protest. The
protests gained pace Tuesday when some 20,000
people violated the curfew and gathered in Mangora, chanting slogans against the
military, which is carrying out an operation against the Taliban militants in the area. "The
government forces came here to end the militancy but the militancy has increased instead. Militants are doing well but the civilian
population is suffering," a speaker named Mohammad Ali told the rally. He claimed
more than 600,000
people have been displaced and hundreds
more dead because of the conflict and the
population was facing shortages of
food and
medicines. The angry demonstrators set
fire to two commercial
banks and pelted
stones at the
law enforcers who responded with tear
gas and gunshots, leaving six
people dead and five injured. Swat, once a popular tourist destination, has seen heavy fighting between
government forces and Taliban militants since last October when Islamabad sent thousands of troops to quell the rebellion of the
followers of radical cleric Maulana Fazlullah. Fazlullah launched an armed campaign to enforce Taliban rule in the area. The new
government in Islamabad initiated peace talks with militants immediately after it took over in March, but resumed the offensive a month later when the negotiations failed to bring peace to the region. --DPAsy/dg 332

International/HealthDangerously overworked
doctors risk own
health and patients' tooSydney, Sep 24 IANS
Doctors and
nurses might be risking their own
health and that of their
patients by being dangerously overworked, in some cases labouring as many as 17 hours daily, according to a new study. Fiona McDonald, associate lecturer at the
law faculty of Queensland
University of Technology, has completed an extensive study, looking at the different
laws in place to regulate working hours across six
countries. McDonald said there had been a number of cases in recent years where
patient deaths, or serious injuries, were put down to bad judgement calls caused by
doctor fatigue, according to a Sciencealert
report."After a point being so tired has a similar effect to being drunk, so overworked
health professionals are at a higher risk of making
poor judgements, their reaction time slows and they
face increased difficulties completing routine tasks," she said. "The working hours of
doctors and
nurses are a major issue which puts the
health of
patients and
workers at risk. Australian
Medical Association believes some
work up to 120 hours per week; most are working less than that but it would still be around 80 hours a week," McDonald said. "While mistakes may occur because of fatigue, they may also occur when there are multiple shift changes - mistakes often occur as a result of
poor communication during handover." She said Queensland is in the process of implementing
medical fatigue risk management plans, where every
district will develop a plan to assess and manage the high risks of working long hours. --Indo-Asian

Human InterestLittle sisters
love to chomp on chilliesBy Sreya BasuMondarmoni West Bengal, Sep 24 IANS They are just five and seven years old, but it's not
chocolates and
chips that Joshna and Shanti are after. Both the sisters in this seaside
village love to eat three kilos of green chillies each every day!Shanti and Joshna, the daughters of fisherman Jatin Sadhu, are considered "miracle children" in their
village, about 200 km from
Kolkata."Shanti started having chillies when she was two years old and Joshna had her first chilli at the age of four. They never complain that the chillies are hot, nor do they ever develop a sore mouth. Every day they need 2-3 kg of chillies each," Jatin told IANS."They chew on chillies as if they are having toffees and juicy
fruits."There's never a dearth of chillies, as Jatin's brother-in-
law Arun Mondal is a chilli
farmer."Often Arun takes my daughters to his chilli
farm. One day he saw Shanti plucking chillies one after another and eating them. He
thought the
child would soon scream but no such thing happened. After that Shanti got addicted to chillies. Joshna too joined her sister soon," Jatin said.Neighbours say the sisters are "blessed" and that is why they do not find the chillies hot."The Sadhu sisters are blessed. Else how can they do such a miracle every day!" wondered neighbour Laxmi Sadhukhan.Jatin took the
girls to a local
doctor for a thorough checkup."But the
doctor, Swapan Samadder, found them fit," Jatin said.Samadder said the taste buds of the
girls were apparently unable to distinguish anything hot."Their taste buds seem not to detect the taste of anything hot. But it's surprising that even their livers and other internal organs are not affected after eating so many chillies every day. It's a very rare case in
medical science."Nevertheless, I have requested the father to keep his daughters away from chillies because I am sure in the long run it
will affect their
health," Samadder said.Jatin said he did try to keep his daughters away from chillies."As a result my daughters stopped eating and started vomiting. Only after I gave them chillies did they become normal!"Sreya Basu can be contacted at sreya.b@ians.in--Indo-Asian

International/PoliticsIsraeli PM Olmert hands in formal resignationJerusalem, Sep 22 DPA Israeli
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert handed in Sunday evening his resignation to President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem, after serving in the
office for 33 months. Earlier in the day, the premier told his
cabinet he was
planning on handing in his mandate, following the
election last week of Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni as the new leader of his ruling Kadima
Party. "This is not an easy decision and not a simple one," Olmert said to his ministers, adding that "I think I am
acting in a suitable, statesmanlike and responsible
manner, as I promised the Israeli
public." The president, now given the official notification,
will immediately begin consultations with the heads of Knesset factions before asking another legislator - almost certain to be Livni - to form a new
government. He is set to meet the leaders of the Kadima, Labour, Likud and Shas
parties - the main coalition partners - Sunday night. Under Israeli
law, Peres has one week to consult the Knesset faction heads. Livni has said she hopes to be able to form a new
government as soon as possible, but on Sunday afternoon it was far from certain she would be able to do so. Kadima, although the largest faction in parliament, has only 29 of the 120 Knesset seats, and Livni
will have to negotiate with other
parties in order to form a stable
government. She
will have 42 days to complete the task, failing which new
elections must be held within 90 days. Olmert remains caretaker premier until a new
government is formed. Olmert announced in July that he would quit the centrist Kadima
party leadership, and then the premiership, because of multiple
investigations against him for alleged corruption.
Police recommended two weeks ago that he be indicted on some of the allegations. He became
prime minister after the March 2006
elections, but has faced growing criticism since the
war with the Lebanese Hezbollah movement in the summer of that year.--DPAskp/366

Human Interest/Politics'Zardari could pocket 3 mn pounds from
sale of English mansion'
London, Sep 22 IANS
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari could pocket three million pounds Rs.258 million from the
sale of an English mansion after corruption charges against him were dropped, a
newspaper reported Monday. Zardari had denied ownership of the mansion for eight years while the
Pakistan government pursued corruption charges against him. Rockwood
House in Surrey, which was owned by Zardari and his wife Benazir Bhutto - the former
prime minister who was assassinated last year - was sold in 2004.But corruption cases in
Pakistan and
Switzerland stopped Zardari from keeping the profits from the
sale of the
house, which had been put into the hands of a liquidator. Now, along with the other cases against him,
Pakistan has dropped its claim over Rockwood, but a profit of 4.3 million pounds has been eroded to three million pounds after creditors and
legal expenses were paid off, the Guardian
newspaper reported. However, the
newspaper quoted Steven Taylor of the liquidator SPW Poppleton and Appleby as saying: "Who gets the
money has yet to be resolved - and it could drag on." The 135-hectare mansion, known in
Pakistan as Surrey Palace was bought in 1995 for 2.5 million pounds during Bhutto's second term as
prime minister - and suspicions that the purchase was funded by slush funds led to Bhutto's sacking in 1996. The true ownership of the mansion remained a matter of speculation until documents that were in the possession of Zardari and Bhutto's Swiss
lawyers came to light in 1997, the Guardian said. In addition to any
money that Zardari may get from Rockwood
House, Swiss authorities have released 32 million pounds in frozen assets after prosecutors dropped their
money-laundering
investigation against Zardari at the request of the Pakistani
government. --Indo-Asian

London, Sept 22 ANI: English
singer songwriter George Michael has issued an apology to
fans for "screwing up again" after he was arrested for
drug possession.Michael, who had been let off with just an official caution after his arrest, promised that he would also sort himself out."I want to apologize to my
fans for screwing up again, and to promise them I'll sort myself out. And to say sorry to everybody else, just for boring them," the Daily Express quoted him as saying in the statement. The
singer had been arrested on September 19 from an underground
public lavatory near Hampstead Heath, after locals, who became suspicious of his movements, informed the cops.Meanwhile,
drugs campaigners have criticized the
police for issuing just a caution to the former Wham! frontman, after he was caught with crack cocaine and cannabis. The
police decision has come as a surprise, especially since it came just three months after Met commissioner Sir Ian Blair called for
all celebrities caught with
drugs to be put on trial. According to Mary Brett, the UK spokeswoman for
Europe Against
Drugs, which campaigns for more
drugs education in
schools, the release of the
singer shows partiality."This decision makes it look like there is one
law for the rich and
famous and one
law for everyone else," Brett said. "It sends out a terrible message. In these high-
profile cases, the
law should be seen to be enforced. "They are never going to get to grips with the
drugs problem here if
kids see
people like George Michael getting away with using these dangerous
drugs," she added.
Police have on the other hand claimed that the "circumstances and context of the arrest meant officers
thought the best way to proceed with this case was to issue a caution". ANI

The term real estate is used to define the various things which are encompassed in land along with all the other things that are fixed to the land permanently. This includes all the aspects like the buildings and the other forms of property that are stationary and fixed to a particular location. The word real estate is also a legal term that is included in the jurisdiction of many countries like the U.S. The word real estate is often closely associated with the word real property. It is also called realty at times. Though it is in contrast, it is also associated with personal property and is often called chattel or personal property. There are situations in real estate where the word also refers to the land and other fixtures together. The real estate differs from the words real property in terms of the ownership of the rights and that of the land. Both the words real estate and real property are used mainly in the common law. The civil laws jurisdiction uses the same to define the immovable property.
The past few years have made many of the economists realise the lack of the proper control in the real estate laws. These laws can act as a real barrier when it comes to the investment in the same in many of the developing countries. In most of the countries that are rich or poor the property including the buildings and other elements adds up to as a large part of the total wealth of the same. The most advanced of the economies the main sources of the capitals that most of the individuals and the other smaller companies use to purchase and also for improvising their lands and other buildings are the mortgage loans. This one of the loans options for which the real property itself constitutes the deposits. Most of the banks today are more than happy to give such favourable loans and rates in very large parts. In this option even if the borrower is not able to meet the payment demands the lender can then take the borrower to the court. The lender can foreclose and file a court action through which the bank will also allow the lender to take back the property. But in most of the developing countries there are no options for the lender to foreclose the same.
