Vaughan backs Anderson to claim No.1 Test bowler spot

London, May 12ANI: Former England captain Michael Vaughan reckons that fast bowler James Anderson will destroy both Sri Lanka and India this summer to become the world's No.1 Test bowler. Anderson is currently third in the points' table behind South African fast bowler Dale Steyn and teammate Graeme Swann. Vaughan believes that home conditions can see Anderson leap-frog the two. "England will hammer Sri Lanka and Anderson will have a field day. When it swings, Anderson is up there with Steyn as the best in the world. Steyn is the king at the minute and to catch him will take some doing, but I see that being achievable and I think he could be the No.1 Test bowler in the world," The Sun quoted Vaughan, as saying. "Anderson swings it as well as anyone and in favourable English conditions this summer against India, with their strong batting line-up, if he bowls well and gets their wickets his ranking will go up even higher," he added. The 36-year-old also lauded Anderson for the consistency that he has developed over the last two years. "He is what I call a firecracker that could come on right at the start and bowl teams out because he has that ability to swing the ball," Vaughan said. "He now knows what to do, how to get himself up for the game and how to get over disappointment. He trusts his action and he trusts his body," he added. ANI
