The saga of “Earth Hour” was celebrated with much fanfare, to make people conscious of its central objective, the mounting threat of climate change. Throughout the world from Sydney to Chicago cites became dark at the weekend pledging their support to the noble cause of the Earth Hour. The campaign had its commencement on the last year in Australia and in this year was witnessed to conjoin all continents, ranging from South Pacific to Europe to North America. Indeed the most striking feature of the campaign had been its transcending the political boundaries. The estimation of the Earth Hour officials that 100 million people would turn off their nonessential lights and electronic goods for the hour made a firm impression on various acclaimed cities of the world where several downtown buildings were found to be dimmed.
