An Interminable Legacy |

When we do speak of the cultural policies of the respective countries we keep in concern the diverse cultural traditions that happen to rule the conscience of the concerned countries. From time immemorial numerous countries have come to the fore depicting their intrinsic cultures, traveling through the ravages of history. But only a handful of them have proved their worth and still exists in the realm of the human civilization. A glorious paradigm of this notion is China. Now it will be futile to compare the cultural policy of China, which is an innate component of its ancient cultural legacy with a country like the United States of America that is barely two hundred and fifty years old. The presence of an ancient civilization with thousands of years of glorious history has been the greatest essence of the people of China even in the present days. Much has changed since the time this great civilization initiated its journey in the unknown past and even some of the ancient myths and cultural traditions have been forgotten or no longer observed. But still there are many, which are remembered and integrated into the daily life. One of the most celebrated concepts of this is the Jade culture. Jade happens to be the stone that was first identified in the ancient Chinese dictionary known as Shuo Wen Jie Zi, in around 100 AD. It is of immense significance in the Chinese mainland not only because of its beauty but also for its virtue and cultural significance. According to illustrious Chinese philosopher Confucius there were 11 virtues within Jade, with some of them depicting the essence of beauty, purity and grace. But along with this there is the predominance of the dragon culture, which has become an inseparable part of the Chinese cultural policy. There was a popular belief with the emperors of China that they truly were dragons, with their beds as dragon beds and even their robes as dragon robes. From that supreme position of the Empire, Dragon at present stays with the common people becoming an ideal emblem of the ancient lineage of the Chinese cultural procedure.
