Pakistan's mistrust, hatred of US reaches irreversible point: Analysts

Islamabad, May 28ANI: The hatred and mistrust between Pakistan and the United States have reached an almost irreversible point following the US raid in Abbottabad that killed Osama Bin Laden, Pakistani analysts have said. Analysts believe that for the time being, Pakistani forces, intelligence agencies and other security departments are not ready to trust anything from the US side blindly, Xinhua reports. They reached this stage when the Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies and the government lost a big part of public confidence due to their intelligence failure about the presence of bin Laden in Pakistan, and the US SEALS' operation to kill him in an cantonment area without Pakistan's knowledge. "As a nation, we are tensed and our confidence had been shuddered because of terrorism within the country and the violation of our sovereignty by US through drones and direct military operation," former Pakistani diplomat Naseem Anwar Baig said. "The sword of terrorism is cutting our throats from both sides, our people and security forces are under militants' attacks, while U.S. drone strikes on innocent people in northwestern region are increasing militants and public rage against government and security forces," he added. During her short and unannounced visit to Islamabad on Friday, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the relations between the two countries have reached a decisive point, stressing Pakistan to take further steps to curb militants hiding in Pakistan. Commenting on Clinton's surprise trip to Islamabad, analyst Talat Wazart termed it a regular visit, which as usual brought a list of "do more" demands to put pressure on Pakistan. "Now we have understood that US wants to leave Pakistan in turmoil after its departure from Afghanistan," said Wazart. "Americans ask intelligence information from Pakistan, but they always use such material negatively against us as they did in Abbottabad." PML-N leader in Parliament, Nisar Ali Khan, criticized the Pakistan government and American policies failing to establish peace in the region, adding: "The arrival of U.S. high officials cannot solve the rising problem of militancy unless we make a solid strategy while boarding all stack holders." PML-N leader and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif declared on Friday that American polices and drone strikes were the main reasons behind rising terrorist attacks in Pakistan. Under such rising pressures from public and politicians after Osama operation, the Pakistan Army has reportedly asked the US military to pull out its troops from Pakistan to a smaller presence, as the mutual trust has fallen down drastically. Clinton's remarks about aid to Pakistan that "the United States has provided more aid to Pakistan than the combined aid of Saudi Arabia and China but I bet not many Pakistanis know that" has also come under severe criticism by young Pakistani university students. Analyst believe that there is no doubt that the US-Pak relations have been spoiled and worsened for many reasons, and with the complete withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, the links will be completely over, repeating the history of 1980s.
