New York, May 24 ANI: Carlsberg, a Danish-based beverage company has launched a new beer that is aimed at the forgotten beer demographic: women. According to its press release, Copenhagen boasts of a sleek design and light taste will help lure women and stylish men, reports the New York Daily News. "Many young people aren't keen on the bitter aftertaste of beer. ... We have created a highly drinkable beer with a balanced taste - a real alternative to white wine and champagne," said the company's VP of marketing, Kirsten gidius. A 2008 survey in Portfolio magazine estimated that women make up 25 percent of beer drinkers - despite most of the marketing think Bud Light and Miller Light commercials are aimed at men. That's where Carlsberg sees its chance. "We can see that there are a number of consumers, especially women, who are very aware of design when they choose beverage products. There may be situations where they are standing in a bar and want their drinks to match their style. In this case, they may well reject a beer if the design does not appeal to them," Jeanette Elgaard Carlsson, international innovation director at Carlsberg, said in the press release. Copenhagen will be launched in Europe and Asia in this year and next. ANI Posted by aniin on Thursday May 26 reply Comments |
