China will not swamp US economy: Ex-US envoy

Washington, May 22 ANI: Former US Ambassador to China, Jon Huntsman, has said Americans should not be scared that Beijing's economy would 'swamp us'. "You hear how the Chinese economy is going to swamp us. Don't believe it. China has its own problems. And we have our own strengths. I mean, there is a reason that Google was started in America and not Russia or Germany or China," Politico quoted Huntsman as saying while addressing Southern New Hampshire University students on Saturday. Huntsman, a possible 2012 presidential candidate, insisted that a lot of problems could be solved if 'Americans remain civil to each other'. "If we Americans remain civil to each other, we can deal with our problems, including the debt crisis that is hanging over us. After the shooting in Tucson when Representative Gabrielle Giffords was injured, we talked seriously about civility. Many Republicans and Democrats even sat together at the State of the Union," he added. ANI
