Pakistan to revisit ties with US, war on terror strategy: Gilani

Beijing, May 20ANI: Pakistan has decided to revisit its strategy in the ongoing war against terrorism and its relations with the United States, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said. Gilani made these comments at a Peking University ceremony to commemorate the 60th year of Sino-Pak diplomatic relations, while referring to the resolution adopted by the Pakistan Parliament. He said that Pakistan would always hold Beijing's support in highest esteem because China was the only country that supported Pakistan at a time when America violated its sovereignty. "We can trust China for all times to come," The Nation quoted Gilani, as saying. Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, who had evaded capture for a decade, was killed on May 2 in a top-secret US unilateral military operation involving a small team of American Special Forces in Pakistan's Abbottabad city. Gilani said that the US had assured Pakistan of no more unilateral action, and that only joint operations would be conducted in future. Recalling the statement of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao during his visit to Pakistan, in which he had said that the bilateral bonds between the two neighbours were time-tested, Gilani said: "I have improvised it and I say: Our relations are taller than mountains, deeper than sea, strong as steel and sweet as honey."
