Older order changes yielding place to new. This is on no account a new phenomenon and is applicable for each and every age. The situation is almost the same with the industry where with the adoption of new technologies and aspects the old way of functioning changes. For instance the introduction of the saga of information technology has modified the international business scenario completely. The reason is websites or online presence has emerged to be more viable than even the physical presence in the market. Well, in the same way the concept of bookselling has also gone through a lot of changes and with the emergence of online bookselling the entire industry is having a headway. But it must be stated that the concept of online bookselling is still not a popular industry with the giant publishing houses. The main reason is the online booksellers are finding homes for millions of books every year denoting the crude fact that don’t get to print and sell as many new copies. This situation has prompted the booksellers to establish of new format to set up print on demand facilities. What is the benefit of this innovative technique? This lone policy helps the booksellers to avoid the cost of printing thousands of copies for inventory with the expenditure of distribution, middleman, and other associated costs.

To the latest statistics it is estimated that something like 250,000,000 books and over are sold online annually. Now even if there are 150,000 booksellers, this indicates that on average there are just 135 sales per month. The situation is getting tough since Internet literacy is on rise worldwide and that is indeed throwing a tough challenge to the future of books. But it is also true that the booksellers have been around for centuries and the Internet has just allowed a new kind of bookseller to emerge. It is to be seen how the booksellers can exploit the chronicle of online technology for the betterment of industry.
