Boeing in a Mess

It is highly expected in the coming days the airline manufacturer giant of the U.S.A. Boeing Co is going to announce that its much hyped Dreamliner is facing an unfortunate postponement of 18 month at a stretch. What has more been learnt from the privileged sources is that the Chicago-based group will also make a formal announcement of the crude reality. The reality is that the flagship aircraft in no way is able to enter service until the end of 2009. It is to be noted, that the Boeing was destined to deliver the first 787 in May this year to Japanese airline All Nippon Airways Co.

The entire episode is certainly disgraceful and a matter of great concern for an organization like the Boeing. The company happens to be one of the foremost aerospace companies in the global spectrum and also the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft combined. In addition, the company is highly proficient in the designing and manufacturing of rotorcraft, electronic and defense systems, missiles, satellites, launch vehicles and advanced information and communication systems. As a major service provider to NASA, Boeing operates the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. What is more, the company excels in providing numerous military and commercial airline support services. Boeing has customers in more than 90 countries around the world and is one of the largest U.S. exporters in terms of sales. Other than this Boeing also has a legacy of aerospace leadership along with innovation. The company has been expanding in respect of the product line and services to meet emerging customer needs. But this is, as already said, indeed a blot.

However, it should be kept in concern, at the beginning of this year the company had affirmed that it was not expecting to receive the first deliveries of the Dreamliner until at least early 2009. Well, this is nothing new, since Boeing has been struggling with horde of problems. But this perennial crisis may compel the company to shelve or even dispose of one of the three variants of the 787.
